Lugo to host the 31st International Congress on Project Management and Engineering (CIDIP / ICPME 2027)

Lugo will be the host city of the 31st International Congress on Project Management and Engineering (CIDIP / ICPME 2027), taking over from Castellón de la Plana as the meeting point for the international scientific and professional community in project management and engineering.

The bid was presented by PROePLA – Projects and Planning Research Group (GI-1716) of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC). The Congress will be held at the Escola Politécnica Superior de Enxeñaría, located on Campus Terra in Lugo, a leading academic environment that combines excellence in education, research and innovation.

Representing Professor Manuel Marey Pérez, Full Professor in the Engineering Projects Area at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and leader of the bid, Professor David Mateo Fouz Varela officially accepted the designation of Lugo as the host city for the next Congress during the closing ceremony of CIDIP / ICPME 2026.

The presentation of the bid was accompanied by a promotional video inviting participants to discover Lugo as a privileged setting for knowledge, research and scientific exchange. A UNESCO World Heritage City, Lugo offers a unique environment where history and innovation come together, making it the ideal venue for the next edition of the Congress.

Hosting the 31st International Congress on Project Management and Engineering represents an important recognition of the research excellence of PROePLA and of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela’s strong commitment to scientific excellence and knowledge transfer.

The handover from Castellón to Lugo also symbolises the continuity of a Congress that, after celebrating its 30th edition, continues to grow as one of the leading international forums for knowledge exchange in project management and engineering. The 2026 edition brought together more than 200 delegates from 20 countries and featured 271 scientific contributions, further strengthening the international standing of CIDIP / ICPME.

From AEIPRO – IPMA Spain, we warmly congratulate the organising team of CIDIP / ICPME 2027 and wish them every success in preparing an edition that will once again bring together researchers, professionals, companies and institutions to foster innovation, sustainability and excellence in project management and engineering.
