ICPME 2026 Presents Three Thematic Panels on Energy Transition, AI and Active Learning

The 30th International Congress on Project Management and Engineering (CIDIP/ICPME 2026) will feature three thematic panels focused on some of the most significant challenges and emerging trends shaping the present and future of project management and engineering.

Open to all Congress participants, these panels are designed as interdisciplinary forums where researchers, practitioners, and experts can exchange knowledge, experiences, and research findings on key issues related to sustainability, digital transformation, and educational innovation.

Each panel will be chaired by a distinguished expert in the field and will bring together scientific contributions and specialized presentations aligned with the theme of the session.

Agrivoltaics, Photovoltaic Systems and Energy Transition

This panel will examine the growing role of agrivoltaics and photovoltaic technologies as key enablers of the energy transition and as drivers of more sustainable models of resource production and management. Presentations will address innovative applications, opportunities for integrating agriculture and solar energy generation, as well as the technical, economic, and environmental challenges associated with these projects.

The session will be chaired by Emilio Muñoz, Professor of Engineering Projects at the University of Jaén and a recognized expert in renewable energy systems.

BIM, AI and Sustainable Construction Project Management

Digital transformation is reshaping the construction sector. This panel will explore the combined application of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and advanced project management methodologies to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and decision-making throughout the entire lifecycle of construction projects.

The session will be chaired by M. Socorro García Cascales, President of AEIPRO–IPMA Spain and Professor of Engineering Projects at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

Active Learning and Competency Development in Project Engineering Education

Preparing future professionals requires innovative teaching methodologies and competency-oriented educational approaches. This panel will examine experiences and initiatives related to active learning, educational innovation, and competency-based education in project management and engineering, addressing the needs of increasingly complex and rapidly evolving professional environments.

The session will be chaired by José Luis Yagüe, Professor at the School of Agricultural, Food and Biosystems Engineering of the Technical University of Madrid.

These three panels form part of the scientific program of the Congress and will contribute to strengthening knowledge exchange among academia, industry, and institutions—one of the defining characteristics of ICPME. All panel presentations will be delivered in Spanish.

The complete scientific program of the Congress is available through the Congress Participants Platform (CPA), where attendees can access detailed information on sessions, papers, workshops, parallel activities, and associated events.

The 30th International Congress on Project Management and Engineering (ICPME 2026), organized by AEIPRO–IPMA Spain and the Universitat Jaume I – School of Technology and Experimental Sciences (ESTCE), will take place from July 7 to 9, 2026, in Castellón de la Plana, Spain.
