The 30th International Congress on Project Management and Engineering celebrates three decades of knowledge, collaboration and innovation

The 30th International Congress on Project Management and Engineering (CIDIP / ICPME 2026) marked a truly special milestone for the entire AEIPRO – IPMA Spain community. Thirty editions represent far more than a number—they embody three decades of research, innovation, collaboration, and shared growth among thousands of professionals, researchers, academics, and students.

To commemorate this anniversary, a special tribute video was presented during the Congress, held at the Universitat Jaume I in Castellón de la Plana. The video looks back on the history of the Congress and pays tribute to all those who have helped transform the International Congress on Project Management and Engineering into one of the leading international forums for knowledge exchange in the fields of project management and engineering.

The video captures the spirit of a community that, over the past thirty years, has built much more than a scientific congress. It has fostered professional relationships, joint research projects, international collaboration networks, and a unique meeting place where research and professional practice advance together.

During the commemorative event, M. Socorro García Cascales, President of AEIPRO – IPMA Spain, opened the celebration by highlighting the remarkable evolution of the Congress and expressing her gratitude to everyone whose commitment, edition after edition, has made its growth and international consolidation possible.

The tribute also brought together many of the people who have shaped the history of the Congress, including former AEIPRO Presidents Salvador Capuz Rizo, Pedro Monpeán, Honorary Member of the Association, María Dolores Bovea Edo, Chair of the Organising Committee, and Francisco Ortega Fernández, Chair of the Scientific Committee.

They were joined by Elena Mulet, Javier Pajares, Guillermo Montero Fernández-Vivancos, Beatriz Amante, Juan Ignacio Torregrosa López, Ángela Paneque, Francisco Zamora Polo, and Vanesa Lo Iacono Ferreira, Congress Project Manager, together with many other individuals who, through their dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm, have helped write the history of CIDIP / ICPME.

One of the most memorable moments of the celebration was the CIDIP / ICPME Quiz Wheel, an entertaining and interactive activity that challenged participants’ knowledge and memories of the Congress over its thirty editions, bringing back anecdotes, smiles, and many shared experiences.

The celebration also provided an opportunity to express sincere appreciation to the Escola Superior de Tecnologia i Ciències Experimentals (ESTCE) and the entire Universitat Jaume I, whose commitment and hospitality have been essential to the success of this landmark edition.

The figures speak for themselves: more than 6,000 scientific papers presented since the first edition, hundreds of volunteers, dozens of universities and institutions involved, and an international community that has continued to grow, bringing together researchers and professionals from 20 countries in this year’s Congress.

Above all, this commemorative video is intended as a tribute to everyone who has been part of this extraordinary journey.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the International Congress on Project Management and Engineering.

We celebrate our 30th anniversary with pride, gratitude, and excitement.

Thirty editions later, we remain a vibrant international community building knowledge, collaboration, and innovation in project management and engineering.

Educating the project managers of tomorrow requires developing competencies, judgment and adaptability

Educating the project managers of tomorrow requires more than teaching tools and methodologies. It also means developing competencies, professional judgment and the ability to adapt in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing environment. This was one of the key messages underpinning the thematic panel «Active Learning and Competency Development in Project Management Engineering Education», held during the CIDIP/ICPME 2026 and coordinated by José Luis Yagüe, Professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

Photovoltaic energy is no longer just about installed capacity; it has become a challenge of territorial integration

Photovoltaic energy is no longer merely a question of installed capacity, generation costs or technological efficiency. It has evolved into a challenge of integrating renewable energy with the territory, agriculture and existing infrastructures.
This is the main conclusion drawn by Emilio Muñoz Cerón, coordinator of the thematic panel «Agrivoltaics, Photovoltaic Systems and Energy Transition».
